FCA Lacrosse Weekly Update 1/12/2012

NDP:
Over New Years we took five teams to the NDP Tournament of Champions in Florida. With U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19 teams, a great time was had by all. Our 1st FCA U11 team is off to a strong start, making it to the semi finals and taking home a 4th place trophy! The U13 and U17 teams both captured second place while the U15 and U19 team were able to capture championships in their respected divisions.

College Retreat:
The year we also put together our first ever FCA Lacrosse College Retreat. Bringing together college lacrosse players from 8 different schools, we spent three days in Deep Creek, MD with lots of fellowship, encouragement, and learning how to make an impact on campuses and teams. It was a great opportunity to pour into these student athletes and help them prepare for the upcoming lacrosse season.

Coaches Convention:
This weekend FCA Lacrosse will be at the US Lacrosse Convention in Philadelphia. Those of you who will be there, please stop by the FCA Lax booth. We are also hosting our annual FCA Lax Coaches breakfast at the convention. Free food, coffee, fellowship, and encouragement. Come fuel up and hear from guest speaker Alvin Bowman, witness the presentation of the annual Peter Kohn award, and hear updates on the FCA lacrosse ministry and how you can be involved. Meet us at 7:00 am on Saturday in the Marriott Hotel at Restaurant 13!

Fellows Program:
FCA Lacrosse is now accepting applications for our summer long internship called the “Fellows Program”. This hands-on internship helps student athletes learn the behind the scenes of sports organization and ministry. Traveling around the country, coaching tournaments, leading camps, promoting and marketing the ministry, and organizing and planning logistics are just some of the many facets of this “hands-on” internship.
